student bench-building project

Students at Phoenix have had the opportunity to build benches using the wood from our recently-felled redwood.

During the summer the redwood, which previously stood next to the hard-court, had to be felled due to health and safety concerns. However, the wood was processed and turned into planks which SOUL (Schools Outdoor Learning) have used to build a range of benches and tables for the school site. The students were able to get involved in the project by constructing the benches in small groups. It has been fantastic to see the students so excited about the new additions to the school,  using the furniture to socialise and relax.

You can see more photos in the school's gallery, under the 'School Life' tab.
