READING KICKS

RAP Reading alternative provision is a part-time programme for young people aged 6-18 who have found  mainstream school difficult. The provision is based at Reading FC Community Trust, young people are referred to the programme from local primary and secondary schools and local authorities.

Through providing high quality education provision RAP aims to help students develop the skills and qualities to reengage into mainstream school. RAP offer a diverse range of programmes designed to tackle antisocial behaviour, build strong and inclusive communities, improve physical health and mental wellbeing, and promote positive relationships between individuals and groups from different backgrounds.

Students can take part in half day 10am-12pm or full day 10am-3pm, Some students will stay on site doing sport and education some will be off site doing their chosen activities. We can have students for a maximum of 18 hours per week, any student wanting to do 5 days per week 25 hours will need 7 hours of education provided by the attached school or LA. We help address behaviour and  schools expectations, many students can change their perspective of school and reengage after sessions out of a school environment, students will have a chosen mentor / teacher to plan their specific programme.

Young person Quote

Okay, so before I came here I wasn’t at school because I was out of school for a year and a half. When I started coming here it was helping me to really talk to people, have social communication, and then later on, as I’ve been here, they’ve helped me to get back to learning and being able to help me to complete my GCSEs. (Harry, RAP participant).
