Canine Assisted Learning

Twice a week, Polly the dog comes to visit with Louise. Polly and Louise are from Canine Assisted Learning and they come to spend time with our students on a one-to-one basis as a part of our offer to all students here at Hamilton. Polly loves being stroked and talked to or watching as our students play games or read books with Louise. She has been known to walk across the chess board occasionally, wanting to play her part for the winning team! Sometimes, Polly just sits with her head on one side listening in as our students tell Louise about how they are finding school, or what they like doing at the weekends. Many of our students love teaching her tricks and sometimes even baking treats for her! Polly is a fantastic calming influence on our students and their time with Polly is hugely valuable, however they choose to use that time.
